The CEO of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), Dr. Mohamed Awad, said that the number of investment zones established since the issuance of the Investment Law No. 72 of 2017 amounted to 21 investment zones, of which 12 are currently operating, while 9 other areas are still under construction.
In an interview with Al Arabiya Business, Awad explained that the volume of investments in the investment areas operating amounted to about 1.2 billion dollars (66.5 billion pounds), pointing out that the occupancy rates are close to 90%.
He added that the high occupancy rates reflect the demand for this investment model, which pushes the Authority to expand it and encourage investors to benefit from it.
