The Egyptian Council of Ministers has approved the extension of the period of submission of applications for alternative units for addressees of the old rental law, for an additional period of three months ending on January 12, 2027, instead of October 12, 2026.
The decision came after the Council of Ministers reviewed in its meeting today a report from the Ministry of Housing, which included a statement of the number of tenants applying for places for the purpose of housing and for non-residential purpose, and their classification by governorates, and a statement of the number of original tenants, including "or his spouse or those to whom the lease contract has been extended," as well as the statement of the plan prepared to meet their request in the case of their eligibility.
According to a statement issued by the Egyptian Council of Ministers on Wednesday, the number of applicants for alternative units reached about 96.5 thousand citizens, with a total of 106.6 thousand forms, including 104.7 thousand forms for housing units and 1.8 thousand forms for non-residential units, and Cairo topped the governorates in terms of the number of applicants and forms, followed by Giza Governorate.
The Social Housing Fund and Real Estate Finance Support provide about 15 thousand housing units in new cities and governorates, within the rental program scheduled to be launched in mid-November, with an examination of the availability of additional units from other government agencies.
The statement pointed out that the program will be implemented after the completion of the priorities approved by the Council of Ministers, and the executive plan includes determining the total number of beneficiaries and classifying them according to the governorates and the type of use "residential / non-residential", and publishing the results of priorities after adoption by the Council of Ministers, with a text message to the applicant explaining the final position.
The "residential / non-residential" units will be allocated in accordance with the systems of allocation of available units, taking into account the allocation of 5% of the available units to people of determination, and taking into account the level of the rented area, the unit is "luxury - medium - economic", in accordance with the findings of the committees formed in accordance with the law.
