London Square, a subsidiary of Aldar Properties, plans to deliver about 9,000 housing units in London over the next five years, as part of projects with a total development value of about $6.6 billion (£5 billion), according to the National newspaper The National, citing company officials.
The units are distributed over about 30 locations, and include more than 3600 units dedicated to sale, 1538 units within the construction projects for the purpose of leasing, and 3575 units in the category of affordable housing, which benefits from government grants that allow the rental of units at affordable prices.
Adam Lawrence, the company’s chief executive, said that London Square plans to start business in 12 locations in 2026, pointing to the continued demand for affordable housing, as well as the interest of international buyers from Turkey, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
He explained that the company recently opened an office in Istanbul, and recorded sales of more than ten units within days of its opening, while demand indicators from Hong Kong began to improve after a period of calm.
London Square is targeting 600 housing units in 2026, compared to 398 units the previous year, with the contracted sales balance expected to reach £1 billion by the end of the year.
The company recorded sales of £251 million during the first half of 2026, up 236% year-on-year, supported by three projects, namely the third phase of Bermondsey Phase 3, Wimbledon Bridge House, and Ransome's Wharf.
Scott Brown, the company’s chief financial officer, said London Square’s accession to the house has helped support its ability to save capital and boost sales.
According to Naomi Minigishi, Director of International Sales in London Square, buyers from the Middle East account for between 10% and 15% of the company’s total international sales, and buyers from the UAE lead the sales activity within this segment.
The motivations for buying include investing and owning a second home to spend the summer, or providing housing for children while studying at London schools and universities.
Aldar Properties acquired London Square in 2023. Since its inception in 2010, the company has delivered 5,000 housing units in 46 locations, with a total development value of about $3.8 billion (£2.9 billion).
The company’s business includes the redevelopment of previous industrial sites, and its most prominent project is Nine Elms, which includes more than 750 residential units, along with 21.5 thousand square feet of commercial and retail spaces. It is also working to transform the former headquarters of the Surrey District Council into a project of 292 housing units, with the restoration of existing buildings within the site.
